How many people does DeWaterbus carry?
It can carry approximately 130 people (including staff). The captain and steward have the final say on how many people (and bikes) can be carried to ensure safety on board. -
Can motorised vehicles be taken along on DeWaterbus?
No motorised vehicles are permitted on DeWaterbus. Wheelchairs, mobility scooters, electric bikes, speed pedelecs and motorised buggies (max. speed 18 km/hour) can of course be carried. -
Is DeWaterbus accessible for wheelchair users?
Yes, but at high tide this may be difficult or sometimes even impossible because of the gradient of the gangway. -
Can my 11-year-old travel alone?
Children aged up to 11 years must be accompanied to travel. From 12 years and over they may travel on their own. -
The gangway has just been retracted. Can I still hop on?
Once the gangway has been retracted, the captain of the vessel is busy with the necessary manoeuvres to leave the pontoon. For your safety and ours it is expressly forbidden for the stewards to interrupt the departure procedure. -
Can I expect help in getting on board?
You have to be able to embark and disembark independently. If the steward is available, he/she will be pleased to lend a helping hand. -
How wide is the gangway, what is the gradient and what is the maximum permitted weight?
The gangway has a clearance width of 1.65 m. The gradient is on average 11%, depending on the draught of the vessel and the height of the quay/pontoon. The weather conditions also play a part in this. The maximum permitted weight is 1,000 kg. -
May dogs be taken on board?
Dogs on a leash are permitted on DeWaterbus (they travel free of charge). -

The steward does not come round. Does that mean I can travel free of charge?
You need a valid ticket. If you do not have one on you, you risk being fined. It is therefore best to look for the steward if you do not have a ticket or season ticket. -
Can multiple people use my 10-ride ticket?
Yes, multiple people can travel on your 10-ride ticket. These are not personal tickets and are therefore transferable. The 10-ride ticket remains valid as long as no end date is indicated on it. -
Mag ik onderweg uitstappen met een enkel of retour ticket?
Met een enkel ticket €4 (€3,5) vaart u van halte A naar halte B in dezelfde zone. Met een retourticket €6 (€5) vaart u van halte A naar halte B (in dezelfde zone); op halte B mag u kiezen of u blijft zitten of uitstapt (voor onbeperkte duur) en daarna op dezelfde kalenderdag terugvaart naar halte A. Een extra uitstap tussen Steenplein <> Sint-Anna OF Liefkenshoek <> Lillo kost slechts €1 extra aangezien dit onze overzetdiensten zijn in het traject. Voor elke andere extra halte heeft u een enkel ticket €4 (€3,5*) nodig. Met een 10-rittenkaart van €24 (€21*); dan betaalt u €2,40 (€2,10*) per (extra) rit/per zone per persoon. (Reductietarief is bij een 10-rittenkaart enkel geldig indien alle gebruikers ervan 25- / 65+ / personen met handicap zijn). Met een dagkaart €15 (€13 reductie) mag u een volledige dag varen en zoveel op en afstappen als u wil. (* reductietarief -25j / +65j / PMH) -
Do I need to pay for zone city if I just pass here?
To zone city (zone 2) belong only the stops: Steenplein, Sint Anna and in the future Droogdokkenpark. You do not have to pay for this zone if you want to go from zone 1 to zone 3 or 4 or from zone 3 to 4 and of course vice versa. -
Waar kunnen de tickets gekocht worden en hoe kan ik betalen?
Bij de steward aan boord van DeWaterbus. Betaling contant is mogelijk. Bankbiljetten hoger dan ? 50,- kunnen wij helaas niet accepteren. Gelieve zoveel mogelijk gepast te betalen. Ook betaling met Bancontact is mogelijk vanaf heden. De komende tijd volgen de online tickets en een fysiek verkooppunt in Antwerpen. -

Can/must I book a place on DeWaterbus?
You cannot book (a spot on) a place on DeWaterbus in advance because is public transport. We advise you to be at the stop a quarter of an hour before departure, because full means full. The captain and steward decide how many people and bikes can be carried, so that safety on board is guaranteed. -
Can I travel for free if I am accompanying a disabled person?
Yes, you can travel for free if you are accompanying a disabled person, provided you have a valid Free Carer Card. Show your card to our steward. -
Can I use Velo Antwerpen?
The Velo station Het Steen – 059 is located at Steenplein. Here you can use the red Velo city bike. Check the prices and availability of Velo bikes on the Velo Antwerpen website. -
Can I get to DeWaterbus jetties by public transport?
Various tram and bus connections stop at or close to the Steenplein/Suikerrui pick-up point. Buses 30 and 34, Sint-Pietersvliet (walking distance) tram 7, Groenplaats (walking distance): trams 3 – 4 – 5 – 9 – 15 and buses 22 -180 – 181 – 182 – 183. In Hemiksem you can take bus 290 & 295 in Callebeekstraat. In Kruibeke you can change at the Scheldelei stop for buses 93 – 95 – 99 – 99S. You can plan your route to or from the above stops/pick-up points of DeWaterbus on the De Lijn website. -

Can I take photos of the DeWaterbus crew?
We respect the privacy of our staff and not everyone may appreciate this. Ask the crew for their permission beforehand. DeWaterbus expressly forbids putting photos and videos of the crew on social media. We will remove them immediately. -
